Why Choose Rockford Fosgate M2-8H Marine Speakers?
Rockford Fosgate M2 Series Coaxial Speakers
Rockford Fosgate equips this M2 Series 8" Color-Optix™ 2-way marine speaker with a 1" super-efficient horn tweeter for louder, clearer highs and a polypropylene woofer for impactful lows. A built-in 12dB/octave crossover network, concealed inside the basket, keeps transitions smooth for a well-rounded, moving sound.
Color Illumination
Built-in illumination brings these speakers to life, and you can coordinate them with other Color Optix™ speakers and subs using Rockford Fosgate's Color Optix™ Controller (not included) and RF Connect App.
Element Ready™
The rugged grilles can endure years in the sun and spray and still look great. And gold-plated marine-grade terminals make for a superior connection, year after year.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does the amplifier go into protect mode?
A speaker short, incorrect impedance, excessive temperature, or a power issue can trigger protection. Check the speaker wiring, load, battery voltage, and ground connection carefully.
- • Why won't it turn on even though the battery is connected?
Check the main fuse, battery connection, ground, and remote turn-on signal. A loose terminal or insufficient voltage can prevent the amplifier from starting properly.
- • Why does the sound cut out when I increase the volume?
A low speaker load, excessive gain, voltage drop, or thermal protection can cause the output to shut down. Verify the speaker impedance and electrical supply under heavy use.
- • Why does it get hot during extended use?
High output levels naturally generate heat, especially in demanding marine installations. Make sure the amplifier has adequate ventilation and is mounted away from excessive heat.
- • Why is there no sound even though the amplifier powers on?
Check the RCA or speaker-level input, source signal, speaker connections, gain, and crossover settings. Testing another known-good source can help isolate the issue.
- • Why does the audio sound distorted at higher volume?
Too much gain or a clipped source signal can cause distortion. Lower the gain and verify that the source is producing a clean signal before increasing the volume.
- • Why am I hearing unwanted noise through the marine speakers?
Poor grounding, damaged cables, or signal wiring routed too close to power cables can introduce noise. Inspect the connections and keep signal and power wiring separated.
- • Why does the amplifier shut down after playing for a long time?
Extended high-volume operation can cause thermal protection to activate. Allow the amplifier to cool and check ventilation, speaker impedance, and gain settings before continued use.
- • Why does one side of the system sound quieter?
Uneven output can be caused by speaker wiring, input connections, gain settings, or a channel-specific fault. Swap the connections to determine where the problem follows.
- • Can it handle the moisture and conditions found on a boat?
It is designed for marine applications, but proper installation remains important. Protect exposed connections, use appropriate marine wiring, and inspect the system periodically for corrosion.
